The palace Hotel was designed as the summer residence of the royal family of Bikaner who wanted respite form the stifling summer. Later, Maharaja Karni Singhji converted Bikaner House as a Heritage Hotel in 1962. Since then Bikaner House has been called as the Palace Hotel.
